House of Dracula Hotel stands on Poiana lui Stechil street, in Poiana Brașov, a mountain resort at around 1,000 metres and 12 km from the medieval centre of Brașov. The slopes of the Postăvaru massif are all around, and Piața Sfatului is roughly 20 minutes away by car.
The nearest airport is Brașov-Ghimbav, 11 km away as the crow flies and about 22 km by road, with flights from Milan, Naples, Rome, London and several German cities; from there the A1 Express bus runs hourly between 07:00 and 19:20 and takes about 35 minutes to Livada Poștei. Bucharest is 160 km away, roughly three hours by car, or a train to Brașov and then a bus. From the city, line 20 climbs up from Livada Poștei every 20 to 30 minutes, from 06:00 until midnight, while line 100 leaves from the railway station. If you drive, private parking at the hotel is free and needs no reservation; check-in runs from 16:00 to 22:00.
In winter the resort counts almost 24 km of pistes across 80 hectares, with a gondola, cable cars and ski lifts climbing towards Postăvaru and Cristianu Mare; the season usually runs from early December to early April, with the lifts working between 09:00 and 16:00. In summer the same lifts open the way to the Postăvaru summit at 1,799 metres, and the forest is good for horse riding or cycling. Brașov, 12 km away, deserves a full day: the Black Church, the largest Gothic building in Romania, Catherine's Gate from 1559 and the Tâmpa cable car. Râșnov Citadel is 7 km away, though for now only its panoramic garden can be visited while the fortress is being restored; the bear sanctuary at Zărnești, 13 km away, is seen only on a guided tour, in the morning, from Tuesday to Sunday.
